*Driver Qualifications*
• 2 years verifiable experience. • Pass a pre-employment physical. • Pass a pre-employment drug test. • Stable work history.	• Minimum 23 years of age. • Valid C.D.L. • Neat Appearance. • Complete 3 day orientation.

*Can NOT Have*
• Any DUI * DWI or Open container in the past 5 years. • Any chargeable accidents in the last 12 months. • More than 2 moving violations in the last 12 months. • More than 5 moving violations in the last 3 years. • Suspensions of any nature in the past 12 months.

*Pay Scale*
Independent Contractor Flatbed Division • Select 78% of total revenue with a 1 1/2 week hold back. • Owners receive 100% of additional pick-ups, stop-offs, tarp pay and fuel surcharge. • For independent contractor not possessing a flatbed trailer: Trailer rental is assessed at 10% of the line haul of the load you are on. This fee will not exceed $700 per month. • BTI-SCI HAS A GUARANTEE LINE HAUL OF $.82 PER BOOK MILE. Independent Contractor Van Division • Are paid $.82 per book mile. • Independent contractor receives $25.00 for additional pick-ups and stop-offs. • Minimum of $20.00 for a driver unload. • There is no trailer rental as BTI furnishes 53' dry vans. • 100% of all tolls in the northeast part of the United States will be paid back upon authorized receipt. • Will receive 100% of billed fuel surcharge.

*Benefits*
*Service / Safety Bonus* • Any Independent Contractor accumulating 105,000 non-preventable accident free miles in a calendar year and has at least 1 year of service will be eligible to receive a safety bonus.
D.O.T. Inspection • $50.00 will be paid to any Independent Contractor who completes a no violation found DOT inspection. A copy of the inspection report must be returned to the safety department. Rider Policy Passengers must be 11 years of age and be an immediate family member. Safety will issue a rider permission slip good for 30 days. No more than 1 rider at a time is permitted in the truck. The driver must have completed 60 days of accident free service to qualify.
*Incentive Programs*

Automatic Deposit Automatic deposit is available to the bank of your choice with all settlement paperwork being sent to your home. A deposit slip from your bank is needed to set up the automatic transferral account. The deposit will show in your account by the close of business on Friday. *Emergency Fund* An emergency fund has been established at the 310 Credit Union to aid drivers faced with a family emergency. The fund is voluntary and is deducted at $2.00 per week. THIS IS NON-REFUNDABLE PROGRAM. Permits & Fuel Tax BTI-SCI will pay $150.00 per quarter of the owners fuel tax. Any amount over the $150.00 will be charged to the driver. Credit Union BTI is a member of the 310 Credit Union in Des Moines, IA. All services offered by the Credit Union are available to the Independent Contractor. There is a $25.00 membership fee required to join.
Driver Referral Bonus A $750.00 bonus is paid to the current BTI driver when a driver referral is qualified, finishes the orientation program and leaves on his/her 1st load. Orientation A new recruit can expect to spend 3 days completing the orientation process. Mileage to BTI will be paid at $ .31 per mile and the recruit will receive $75.00 per day during orientation. Each recruit must complete the following tasks prior to dispatch. • Sign Independent Contractor lease. • Complete all required BTI paperwork. • Watch all required movies. • Meet with all of the department staff members. • Receive BTI handbook.
*Owner Operator requirements:*
License Plates • Independent Contractors are NOT required to purchase their own plates. BTI will pay for plates. Tractor-Trailer Insurance Insurance is available through BTI at 3.5% of the insurable value of the tractor-trailer. Bobtail Insurance cost $33.00 per month. Independent Contractor needs at time of Lease • Number off the old license plate • Copy of the title • Copy of Federal road use tax (2290) • Proof of insurance • Copy of bill of sale for the driver file • Federal ID# • Copy of Social Security Card or Birth Certificate • Copy of Drivers License All Flatbed Independent Contractors must have their own equipment even if renting a BTI trailer. Minimum Requirments: • Lumber Tarps (8 foot drop) - 1 set • Steel Tarps - 1 set • 4' Straps (14) • Winches (14) • Chains and binders (10) • Dunnage - 6 to 8 pieces of hardwood • 2" Straps (2) ALL TRACTORS MUST PASS A SIGN ON INSPECTION BOTH DOT AND BTI VISUAL. ALL EQUIPMENT MUST MEET FEDERAL DOT REQUIREMENTS.
